Position Title: Utility Scale Solar PV Plant Manager

Department: Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

Reports To: General Manager / Head of Operations

Location: Philippines

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary:

The Utility Scale Solar PV Plant Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of large-scale solar power plants. This role oversees all on-site activities, ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, manages plant personnel, and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders to maximize plant performance and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, ensuring all activities comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements, and supervise the implementation of robust safety procedures.
  • Oversee daily operations, including monitoring plant performance, analysing technical data, and preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Lead and supervise a team of O&M staff, solar technicians, and subcontractors, providing guidance and fostering teamwork to achieve high performance standards.
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including scheduling, troubleshooting, repairs, and replacement of components to ensure optimal plant availability and performance.
  • Utilize asset performance and plant monitoring software to evaluate technical performance, analyse production losses, and propose action plans.
  • Prepare and manage O&M budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Supervise compliance with all O&M contracts, including warranty claims, supplier management, and inventory control.
  • Liaise with off-takers, local communities, authorities, and other stakeholders to maintain positive relationships and support project development.
  • Ensure proper documentation, incident reporting, and compliance with all operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in commissioning activities, technical due diligence, and support handover processes for new plants or expansions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance, safety, and profitability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field; higher qualifications (e.g., Master’s in Business) are advantageous.
  • Minimum 5–6 years of experience in utility-scale solar PV plant operations and maintenance, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Experience with high-voltage substations (e.g., 132kV/220kV) and plant monitoring systems.
  • Strong knowledge of O&M contracts, asset management software, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and plant monitoring/asset management platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to be on standby as required.

Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Project management experience or certification is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and independent work style.
  • Experience with power system protection, relays, and breaker operation.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and the ability to conduct or supervise switching activities.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement in renewable energy operations.
