Technical Director – Utility-Scale Solar Farm

Our client is an experienced and well financially backed renewable energy developer delivering a major utility-scale solar farm in Timor-Leste. They are now looking for an experienced Technical Director to take a leading role in the successful delivery of the project.
This is a rare opportunity for a senior solar professional who combines strong technical depth, project management capability, and a very hands-on approach to execution. The role will be central to coordinating technical delivery across design, construction, commissioning, and handover, while also working closely with the Owner’s Engineer, EPC contractor, and wider project team.
The Role
- Lead the technical delivery of the solar project from construction through commissioning and handover.
- Act as the key technical interface between the owner, EPC contractor, Owner’s Engineer, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Oversee technical reviews, design coordination, quality assurance, risk management, and issue resolution.
- Provide strong site-based leadership and ensure progress, performance, and compliance targets are met.
- Support commissioning readiness, testing, and final project acceptance.
About You
- Extensive experience in utility-scale solar project delivery.
- A track record of completing at least 2–3 large-scale solar farms.
- Strong project management background with the ability to lead multiple technical workstreams.
- Experience managing or working closely with an Owner’s Engineer.
- Comfortable being highly site-based and solving problems in real time.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent English and Portuguese is advantageous but not mandatory.
