Taiwan sets out boosted offshore goals

Taiwan has set out its vision for the next 15 years of offshore wind development off the island, boosting its targets from 10.9GW in 2030 to 18.3GW by 2035 and 24.7GW by 2039.

The government has laid out plans to run offshore wind auctions roughly every four years, and hopes to allocate roughly 8GW of capacity per round.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs laid out a four point programme to reach the goal.

The Taiwanese government will establish clear policy directives, guide industry development on the island and fostering domestic supply chains, supplement green financing mechanisms, and smooth the permitting process for development hopefuls.
