Siemens Gamesa partners with AI supercomputer

Siemens Gamesa will be partnering with an AI supercomputer to develop and optimise wind power technology.
The wind turbine manufacturer will use the Gefion supercomputer, operated by Danish Centre for AI Innovation (DCAI), to model whole wind farms in minutes, cut energy losses through airflow simulations, and predict equipment faults early using real-time and performance data, DCAI said.
The goal is to make turbines more efficient, cheaper to maintain and to increase energy production.
“Over the past few decades, our developments have established wind energy as one of the most important sources of electricity, particularly in Europe but also around the world,” Siemens Gamesa CEO Vinod Philip said. “The rapid evolution would not have been possible without the use of industrial AI. Using Gefion’s state-of-the-art AI capabilities and AI-supported product development will allow us to further realise the potential of wind power.”
The Danish minister for industry, business and financial affairs, Morten Bødskov, called Gefion a “gamechanger” for Danish businesses.
