About the job

Our client is one of Asia’s leading renewable energy IPP companies, with a rapidly growing portfolio of utility‑scale wind, solar and BESS assets across the region. To support best‑in‑class operations and maximise asset value, they are seeking an experienced Wind O&M Consultant with a strong background in WTG asset management and maintenance strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Wind Project – O&M Strategy and Contract Management:

  • Develop and continuously improve a comprehensive Wind Operations & Maintenance strategy to maximise WTG output, availability and lifetime in line with Good Wind Farm Operations Practice.
  • Lead WTG asset management activities, including maintenance philosophies (corrective, preventive, predictive), long‑term life‑extension strategies, and optimisation of inspection and condition‑monitoring regimes.
  • Support the company in establishing and updating internal processes and procedures for monitoring and evaluating contractors’ performance against contractual obligations and industry standards.
  • Assist the Owner’s Representative in coordination and commercial/technical discussions with onshore wind contractors to optimise delivery, performance guarantees and contractual value.
  • Review the adequacy of right‑of‑way, land access and site layouts from an O&M perspective to ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective operations.
  • Review maintenance practices for each WTG and balance‑of‑plant asset, and enhance maintenance check sheets to incorporate criticality, risk and reporting criteria.
  • Define and recommend critical spare parts strategies and preferred suppliers to minimise downtime and logistics risks.
  • Provide advisory support on O&M cost management, including budget planning, cost benchmarking and optimisation opportunities.
  • Strengthen collaboration among internal teams and external O&M partners to ensure fees and scopes of work reflect the level of engagement required to maximise contractual and operational value.
  • Identify and assess innovations and digital / analytic tools (e.g. CMS, SCADA analytics, performance diagnostics) and support their implementation to increase plant capacity factor and generation.
  • Provide technical input to new wind development projects (e.g. site selection, WTG technology choice, layout and accessibility from an O&M standpoint).

Capability Building for O&M Personnel:

  • Provide consultancy and on‑the‑job training for O&M staff on:
  • WTG inspection and condition‑monitoring techniques
  • Energy yield and performance analysis
  • Wind and SCADA data analysis.
  • Advise facility and site leadership on development plans to strengthen technical familiarity with WTGs, OEM documentation and best‑practice maintenance methods.

Wind Development Projects Support:

  • Advise on site selection, WTG model selection, layout and infrastructure from an O&M and lifecycle‑cost perspective.
  • Provide input on maintainability, accessibility, logistics, and future repowering or life‑extension considerations.

Candidate Profile:

  • 15+ years’ experience in wind power plant operations, maintenance, and/or engineering.
  • Strong track record in developing and implementing O&M strategies for large‑scale onshore (and ideally offshore) wind farms.
  • Hands‑on experience with WTG maintenance plans, condition monitoring, SCADA/performance analytics, critical spares planning and contractor management.
  • Familiarity with Good Wind Farm Operations Practice, international codes and OEM recommendations.
  • Experience interfacing with O&M contractors, OEMs and service providers, including performance reviews, claims and contract optimisation.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills; able to challenge and improve existing practices.
  • Engineering degree (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Renewable, or related discipline); advanced degree or professional certifications in asset management/O&M are an advantage.
