A large-scale power generation operator in Southeast Asia is seeking an experienced Senior Operations & Maintenance (O&M) / Plant Manager to support and strengthen the performance of its operating plants.
This senior advisory role will work closely with site leadership and executive management to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations, while progressively enhancing O&M capability across the portfolio in line with recognised international utility practices.
The Role:
The Senior Power Plant Manager will provide expert guidance to site leaders to ensure operations and maintenance activities consistently support generation objectives, asset integrity, and long-term sustainability. Must be willing to be based onsite in remote locations in the Philippines where the power plants are located!
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising site leadership on plant operations, preventive and corrective maintenance practices
- Ensuring operational systems, processes, and schedules are effectively implemented to improve efficiency, predictability, and availability
- Supporting the evolution of O&M practices from reactive to more proactive, condition-based, and reliability-focused approaches over time
- Providing guidance on the planning and execution of major outages and shutdowns, including oversight of long-term service agreements
- Advising on asset management, including life-cycle optimisation, interdependencies, and cross-site synergies
- Supporting budget planning and cost control for operations and maintenance activities
- Advising management on contractor performance, operational risk, and cost exposure
- Promoting strong quality, safety, health, and environmental (QHSE) standards and supporting internal and external audits
- Mentoring and coaching site leaders and technical teams to build a high-performing, engaged O&M organisation
- Helping establish and monitor performance benchmarks such as availability, forced outage rates, maintenance cost, and safety indicators
The Ideal Candidate:
- Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent technical background
- 20+ years’ experience in operations and maintenance of large-scale power generation facilities (e.g. geothermal, gas-fired, thermal, coal)
- Demonstrated experience improving plant performance, reliability, and maintenance effectiveness in medium to large generating assets (50MW+)
- Strong technical credibility combined with a pragmatic, hands-on advisory style
- Comfortable working closely with site-based teams and senior leadership
- Analytical problem-solver with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable guidance
- Willingness to be based onsite in remote locations across the Philippines.
- Collaborative, proactive, and visible leadership presence on site
- Strong communicator in English, able to engage operators, engineers, and executives alike
