Position Summary:
The Senior Investment Associate – Renewable Energy plays a pivotal role in identifying, analysing, and executing investment opportunities across the renewable energy sector, including solar, wind, battery storage, and emerging technologies. This position supports all phases of the investment lifecycle, from origination and due diligence to financial modelling, deal structuring, and ongoing asset management. The role requires strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of project finance and renewable energy markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the evaluation, structuring, and execution of investments in renewable energy projects, platforms, and companies, including M&A and project finance transactions.
- Develop, build, and maintain complex financial models for investment analysis, valuation, and scenario planning, including sensitivity and risk analysis.
- Conduct comprehensive financial, commercial, legal, and technical due diligence on potential investments, identifying key risks and value drivers.
- Prepare and present investment memoranda, business cases, and recommendations to investment committees and senior management.
- Negotiate key commercial terms and support contract negotiations for acquisitions, partnerships, and project finance agreements.
- Monitor and manage existing portfolio investments, supporting performance reviews, reporting, and value optimization initiatives.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, new market opportunities, and regulatory developments in the renewable energy sector.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including project development, legal, technical, and external advisors-to ensure successful transaction execution and ongoing asset management.
- Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
- Represent the company in meetings with external stakeholders, including co-investors, lenders, advisors, and industry partners.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in investment banking, project finance, private equity, or corporate finance, preferably with a focus on renewable energy or infrastructure.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial modelling, quantitative analysis, and valuation methodologies (e.g., DCF, IRR, NPV, LBO).
- Strong understanding of legal, tax, and regulatory frameworks relevant to renewable energy investments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting investment materials to senior stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and cultures.
- High attention to detail, analytical rigor, and sound investment judgment.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- CFA or other relevant professional qualifications are advantageous.
- Experience with portfolio management, asset optimization, and performance monitoring.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
- Fluency in English required; additional language skills are a plus.
