Philippines resets offshore wind auction timeline

The Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) has set 1 December as the indicative date for relaunching the country’s debut offshore wind auction.
It follows a suspension of the process earlier this month to allow a review of implementation considerations including port readiness, permitting requirements, environmental and port-related costs, and potential global supply chain disruptions.
The DOE said work with government agencies to validate port, environmental and grid-readiness requirements will continue until 2 September, with a supplemental terms of reference due for release by 2 October.
Following the launch of the tender, known as the fifth Green Energy Auction (GEA-5), bid validation, notices of award and certificates of award are scheduled between 2 December 2026 and 30 June 2027, according to the updated indicative timeline.
The DOE said all dates in the recalibrated timetable remain subject to further adjustments following inter-agency coordination, legal review and publication requirements.
