LS Marine Solution Leads Korea’s Largest Offshore Wind Project

LS Marine Solution announced on June 12 that it has been selected as the preferred negotiator for the submarine cable transportation and installation sector of the Haesong Offshore Wind Project, Korea’s largest offshore wind power project.
The Haesong Offshore Wind Farm, with investment and overall project management by global green energy investment developer CIP, will be constructed as two 504MW (megawatt) complexes, totaling 1GW (gigawatt) in scale, off the west coast of Sinan-gun, South Jeolla Province. This is equivalent to the power production capacity of one nuclear power plant.
LS Marine Solution is expected to perform all processes of internal and external network construction, including marine surveys, submarine cable laying and burial, and connection testing.
In particular, the company plans to demonstrate its high-difficulty construction capabilities in deep sea and long-distance areas by utilizing Korea’s only newly built High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) dedicated cable laying vessel.
Kim Byung-ok, CEO of LS Marine Solution, stated, “This selection is the result of proving our technological prowess and reliability through the successful completion of the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Farm Phase 1.” He added, “We will further strengthen our global competitiveness by collaborating with world-class development and investment partners in the Haesong project.”
