HD Hyundai signs Taean substation contract

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed the main contract to deliver an offshore substation for the 500MW Taean offshore wind farm off South Korea.
HD Hyundai said the agreement follows an Early Works Agreement signed in March and a Preferred Supplier Agreement in July.
The company added that the main contract marks the start of full execution for the offshore substation scope.
The work covers design, supply, transport, installation and commissioning.
The substation will step up and transmit electricity generated from a 500MW offshore wind farm near Gaeui-do-ri, Taean-Gun, to the mainland.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will use its self-developed 500MW offshore substation model for the project.
The model received detailed design verification from DNV in August 2025 for compliance with international regulations and standards.
Taean Wind Power is an international joint venture formed by Vena Group, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Korea Western Power Co., Ltd.
HD Hyundai said the project supports its expansion of offshore plant expertise into renewable energy and offshore wind.
