Goldwind partners with CS Wind for Turkey tower supply
Chinese wind turbine maker Goldwind Science & Technology Co Ltd (SHE:002202) said today it is advancing localisation efforts in Turkey as part of a long-term commitment to the market, including a cooperation with South Korean wind tower manufacturer CS Wind.
Thanks to this partnership, steel towers produced in Turkey are now entering Goldwind’s supply chain, the Chinese firm said.
In addition, Goldwind is advancing its plans to set up a wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in Turkey. The company is currently in a site-selection and investment-evaluation process for this project.
“The planned investment is expected to be developed on a site of more than 125,000 square metres, creating more than 700 direct employment opportunities. The facility is initially planned to manufacture blades for Goldwind’s GWH182 wind turbine platform, with a targeted localization ratio of at least 65%,” said Alper Kalayci, Localisation and Supply Chain Manager at Goldwind Turkey.
“Turkey is one of Goldwind’s strategic markets. We believe that investing in local manufacturing and developing a strong domestic supply chain will create long-term value for our customers, our partners and Turkiye’s renewable energy ecosystem,” added Tiecheng Yu, Country Manager of Goldwind Turkey.
The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources on Saturday announced tenders for 2,400 MW of solar and wind energy under the country’s YEKA programme.
Turkey aims to achieve 120,000 MW of installed wind and solar capacity by 2035.
Other wind manufactures such as Germany’s Enercon are also pursuing localisation in Turkey.
