European Energy inaugurates Lancaster solar farm

European Energy has inaugurated the 108MW Lancaster Solar Farm in Victoria, Australia, supplying electricity to Apple under a long-term power purchase agreement.

“The Lancaster Solar Farm adds operational capacity to European Energy’s Australian portfolio and reflects the continued progress of the company’s development pipeline,” said Catriona McLeod, Country Manager for Australia at European Energy.

The solar park comprises approximately 170,000 solar panels and supplies renewable electricity to Apple under a long-term power purchase agreement, European Energy added.

“Australia offers strong fundamentals for renewable energy investment, supported by growing corporate demand and a supportive regulatory framework.”

The inauguration took place during the Danish Royal Couple’s State Visit to Australia and was attended by representatives from European Energy, local stakeholders and members of the Yorta Yorta community, the First Nations Traditional Custodians of the land.

“The Lancaster Solar Farm adds further scale to European Energy’s activities in Australia and reflects the company’s strategy of expanding its renewable energy portfolio in markets with strong demand for clean electricity,” said Knud Erik Andersen, CEO of European Energy.

“Australia is developing quickly as a renewable energy market, and European Energy continues to build a project pipeline supported by long-term power purchase agreements and partnerships with corporate offtakers.”

European Energy currently has a development pipeline of approximately 10GW of solar, onshore wind and battery storage projects in Australia.

Winton North Solar Farm is under construction and Mulwala Solar Farm has completed construction and is in commissioning close to energisation, both located within 90 minutes of the Lancaster site.

Additional projects are progressing towards construction and are expected to become operational in 2026, further expanding European Energy’s operational portfolio in Australia.
