EIA process begins for Choshi City offshore wind project

TEPCO has begun the environmental Impact Assesment (EIA) for the proposed Choshi City Offshore Wind Power Generation Project. The project area covers approximately 4,000 hectares.
The project involves the installation of a fixed-bottom offshore wind power plant. The planned generation capacity is up to 420 MW.
The wind farm is expected to comprise up to 27 turbines, with individual turbine capacities ranging from 15 MW to 20 MW.
As part of the environmental impact assessment process, planning-stage environmental consideration documents were submitted on 20 August 2026.
An official public notice was issued on 21 August 2026, with public inspection scheduled from 21 August 2026 to 25 September 2026.
The documents are available for public inspection at locations including the Chiba Prefecture Environmental Policy Division, Choshi City offices, and facilities in Asahi City.
