Container Solutions Mechanical Engineer

About the job

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in container manufacturing, heavy industry, or related fields. This role will play a key part in project execution, supporting the technical team with hands-on engineering solutions, troubleshooting, and working closely on layout and design implementation.

This is not a field service position—but you will be the go-to technical resource for resolving on-site mechanical issues and developing practical fixes related to container systems, including structural concerns like welding, painting, and mechanical damage. You’ll also support the development of specialized solutions such as seismic reinforcements and walking mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead during project execution, supporting container and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) installations.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting and resolution strategies for damage or design issues (e.g., welding cracks, paint failure, mechanical damage).
  • Develop and propose engineering solutions, including calculations, design adjustments, and implementation plans.
  • Collaborate with AutoCAD and layout teams to ensure designs meet structural and operational requirements.
  • Support site inspections and site visits to assess issues and ensure quality of engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of mechanical systems, based on field insights and customer feedback.
  • Work cross-functionally with technical leads, project managers, and production teams.

Skills & Experience

  • 5–6 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably within:
  • Container OEMs
  • Heavy industrial manufacturing
  • Construction or infrastructure support systems
  • Strong understanding of mechanical troubleshooting, container assembly, structural design, and repair methods.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Ability to interpret and perform mechanical calculations (e.g., load, stress, seismic conditions).
  • Excellent communication skills—comfortable engaging with both technical teams and project stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel for site inspections across Australia as needed.
