Position Summary:
The Solar C&I (Commercial & Industrial) Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth in the commercial and industrial solar sector by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities. This role focuses on rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV solutions, targeting businesses seeking to reduce energy costs and improve sustainability. The manager will build relationships with key decision-makers, tailor solutions to client needs, and lead negotiations to close deals, ensuring the company’s leadership in the C&I solar market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, target, and engage potential commercial and industrial clients for solar PV solutions.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities within the C&I solar sector, typically ranging from 30kW to 500kW+ projects.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers in target organizations.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Present customized solar proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals with clients.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and technical teams to deliver tailored solutions and ensure project success.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and government policies related to renewable energy and solar projects.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
- Support long-term agreement negotiations and customer management to ensure satisfaction and foster repeat business.
- Maintain accurate records of business development activities using CRM tools.
- Assist with project licensing and permits as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Proven experience in business development or sales, preferably within the commercial solar or renewable energy sector.
- Strong understanding of the C&I solar market, including regulatory frameworks, financial models, and energy cost savings.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical solutions clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
- Proficiency in CRM and sales management tools (e.g., Salesforce).
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Experience in securing solar projects in the 30kW to 500kW+ range.
- Knowledge of solar PV system design, financing options, and project delivery processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
