Vestas marks 15 GW-plus of EnVentus turbine installations worldwide

Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said it has surpassed 15 GW in installations of its EnVentus onshore wind turbines worldwide, with the machines spinning across 26 countries.

More than 2,500 EnVentus turbines are currently operating globally and over 24 GW of them are booked under firm orders, Vestas said.

“Through development, further testing and maturation it has been possible to further enhance the performance, increasing the nominal power from the original 5.6MW to now being able to offer a V162-6.5MW on project specific basis,” the Danish wind turbine maker said in a LinkedIn post.

A project in Chile recently saw the installation of the first EnVentus turbine in the country. The EnVentus V162-6.2 MW unit is also the most powerful turbine in operation in the UK and another machine of the same model recently marked the completion of turbine installation at the Golden Plains wind farm project in Australia, Vestas said.

The symbolic milestone for the EnVentus platform comes shortly after Vestas said its wind turbine order intake grew 67% year-on-year to 3,349 MW in the second quarter, driven solely by the onshore segment.
