Sany Renewable Energy breaks ground on 168 MW wind project in Serbia

June 25 (SeeNews) – Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Sany Renewable Energy said it has started construction of the 168 MW Alibunar wind project in northern Serbia.
“The Alibunar project reflects our long-term commitment to Serbia, our commitment to this market and our strong belief in long-term cooperation between Serbia and China,” said Tang Chao, a representative of Sany Renewable Energy, during the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, as seen in a video posted by public broadcaster RTS.
Sany Renewable Energy will invest 240 million euro ($272 million) in the project, which is expected to generate 460 GWh of electricity per year by 2028, RTS reported.
Earlier this month, Nordic renewable energy developer Emergy said it has completed the sale of the Alibunar project to Hong Kong-based Heavy Energy International, a subsidiary of Sany Renewable Energy, for an undisclosed amount.
