SANY installs first turbine in Europe

Sany Renewable Energy has commissioned its first wind turbine in Europe for Grupo Jorge in Zuera, Zaragoza, Spain.
The company said the project integrates a 6.25MW SI-172 wind turbine with photovoltaic generation and a battery storage system to optimise energy use at Grupo Jorge’s industrial facilities.
Sany Renewable Energy added the turbine was manufactured, erected and commissioned in less than 11 months and will be serviced by the company for the next 10 years.
The installation marks the first SANY turbine in Europe and a step in its international expansion following projects signed in Chile, Serbia and South Africa.
A dedicated European team managed construction, commissioning and operations and maintenance directly in Spain.
The project included local industry participation, with the steel tower manufactured in Spain and inland transportation, installation, commissioning and operations and maintenance subcontracted to local companies.
“The first Chinese large-MW wind turbine is now standing in Spain. Not announced. Not promised. Just up and running,” said Sany Renewable Energy Co., Ltd.
