Onshore Wind EPC Senior Project Manager – Japan (Relocation Opportunity)

An international renewable energy developer is looking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of utility-scale onshore wind projects in Japan.
This role focuses on leading full lifecycle project execution across onshore wind assets, from late-stage development through construction, commissioning and handover. The position will be responsible for managing EPC contractors, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to required quality and safety standards.
The role is based in Tokyo and will involve regular travel to project sites across Japan.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end EPC project delivery for onshore wind projects
- Manage EPC contractors and subcontractors across construction and installation phases
- Oversee project schedule, budget, and cash flow to ensure successful delivery
- Drive contract management activities including RFQs, variation orders, claims and reporting
- Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement and commercial teams
- Manage stakeholder relationships including local authorities, lenders and project partners
- Identify and mitigate project risks while implementing recovery plans where required
- Ensure compliance with HSE, quality and regulatory requirements throughout execution
- Support commissioning activities and handover to operations teams
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Strong experience in utility-scale onshore wind project delivery
- Proven background in EPC project management within renewable energy or infrastructure
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers and multi-site construction environments
- Solid understanding of project controls including schedule, cost and risk management
- Experience handling contracts, claims and commercial aspects of EPC projects
- Strong stakeholder management skills across internal and external parties
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, site-driven environment
