SRE and JERA Nex bp have completed refinancing of the 376MW Formosa 2 offshore wind farm off Miaoli County, Taiwan.

Formosa 2 said the refinancing facility totals €1.6billion and represents the first offshore wind refinancing of its kind in Taiwan and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The project added that the transaction was substantially oversubscribed and sets a new record in Taiwan’s offshore wind financing history.

A total of 31 financial institutions participated in the refinancing, including four export credit agencies, 17 Taiwanese lenders and 10 international banks.

The wind farm has been in operation since 2023.

Formosa 2’s shareholders are Synera Renewable Energy and JERA Nex bp.
