Country Lead, Offshore Wind – South Korea

Our client is a leading global offshore wind consultancy, supporting developers, investors and utilities across the full project lifecycle – from early‑stage feasibility and design through to construction and operations. As part of their continued growth in Asia, they are seeking an experienced Country Lead to build and lead their business in South Korea.
Key Responsibilities:
Country leadership & business growth:
- Lead and represent the company in South Korea as the senior in‑country executive.
- Develop and execute the country strategy aligned with regional and global objectives.
- Drive business development with developers, utilities, EPCs, OEMs, investors and government stakeholders.
- Identify market opportunities in fixed‑bottom and floating offshore wind and adjacent sectors (e.g. grid, ports, hydrogen).
- Own the P&L for the Korean business, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
Team management & delivery oversight:
- Manage and grow a small to medium‑sized team of engineers and consultants (e.g. civil/structural, geotechnical, electrical, marine).
- Provide leadership, coaching and performance management; foster a high‑performance, inclusive and safety‑focused culture.
- Oversee delivery quality across technical studies, concept and detailed design, FEED, due diligence and owner’s engineering scopes.
- Ensure robust project governance, resource allocation and risk management on all Korean assignments.
Client & stakeholder engagement:
- Act as primary client interface for key Korean accounts, ensuring high satisfaction and repeat business.
- Engage with regulators, local authorities, industry associations and research institutes to help shape the evolving offshore wind policy and standards landscape.
- Represent the company at conferences, industry forums and working groups in Korea and the wider Asia–Pacific region.
Technical & strategic input:
- Provide senior technical and strategic guidance on offshore wind projects, particularly in civil/structural aspects such as foundations, support structures, ports and marine infrastructure.
- Review and sign off major deliverables, proposals and technical reports.
- Work closely with global centres of excellence to transfer best practice into the Korean market and export Korean project learnings globally.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience in energy, marine, infrastructure or related sectors.
- At least 5 years of direct experience in offshore wind, ideally across multiple project phases (site development, design, construction support, operations).
- Proven track record of managing and developing small‑to‑medium engineering teams, including performance and career development responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is essential, ideally in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
- Strong understanding of offshore wind design, construction and project delivery, with exposure to Korean or North‑East Asian projects highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management and winning consultancy or engineering services work.
- Experience working in or with global, multicultural organisations.
