Vertex Search is in partnership with a well-established IPP operating across Asia Pacific and Australia/New Zealand. With a rapidly expanding portfolio of renewable energy assets in Japan, the organisation is strengthening its technical leadership capability to support a growing pipeline of utility-scale development and construction projects.
The company operates across multiple technologies including onshore wind, solar PV, battery storage systems and emerging digital infrastructure, backed by long-term investment and a commitment to Japan’s energy transition. The General Manager Engineering will serve as the senior technical authority for all engineering matters in Japan. This position will oversee engineering governance, provide strategic direction and ensure the technical integrity of projects from early development through construction and handover.
The role reports to an experienced expatriate manager and will guide a multidisciplinary team including direct line managers and wider engineering specialists to ensure consistent standards, strong design practices and effective coordination internally and externally.
Key responsibilities include leading all engineering disciplines; implementing governance frameworks and technical standards; managing grid connection strategy and engagement with utilities and authorities; reviewing engineering deliverables at all project stages; mentoring direct and indirect reports across multiple technologies; collaborating with global engineering teams to align on design methodologies; and representing engineering in senior leadership discussions.
