About the Opportunity:

A leading renewable energy developer in Asia is seeking a seasoned Development Director to spearhead its strategic expansion into the data center sector. Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of strategic sites for data center development, with focus on co-location opportunities near existing and planned renewable energy projects.
• Develop and execute commercial strategies to establish partnerships with hyperscalers, co-locators, and enterprise data center operators across Korea and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
• Originate and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and energy supply contracts with data center companies, leveraging the company’s renewable energy generation capacity.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the DC ecosystem, including hyperscalers, real estate developers, utilities, and government agencies.
• Design project development roadmaps from site identification through to financial close, ensuring alignment with the company’s renewable energy portfolio strategy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project development, engineering, finance, and legal to deliver integrated renewable energy + DC campus solutions.
• Educate and guide internal teams on data center development best practices, market dynamics, and technical requirements.
• Conduct market analysis and due diligence on DC opportunities, including grid connection studies, power requirements, and site feasibility assessments.
• Represent the company in industry forums and develop the company’s brand presence within the data center development community.
• Report directly to the CEO on strategic initiatives, pipeline development, and market opportunities.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Real Estate, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Deep understanding of data center development fundamentals, including site selection criteria, power and cooling infrastructure, connectivity requirements, and hyperscaler procurement models.
• Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to structure and negotiate complex PPAs and off-take agreements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, particularly with enterprise technology companies and hyperscalers.
• Strategic thinker with ability to translate vision into executable development plans.
• Fluency in English and Korean required.

Desired Experience:

• Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in one or more of the following: data center development, renewable energy project development with DC off-takers, commercial real estate development (DC-focused), or hyperscaler energy procurement.
• Proven track record of either: (a) developing data center projects from site identification through construction, OR (b) leading commercial origination and PPA negotiations with data center operators.
• Experience navigating complex permitting, grid connection, and stakeholder engagement processes in Korea strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of renewable energy integration with data center operations (on-site generation, co-location models, 24/7 CFE strategies) highly valued.
• Demonstrated ability to build new business verticals or lead strategic expansion initiatives.
• Existing relationships with hyperscalers, co-location operators, or data center developers in Asia-Pacific a significant advantage.
