Germany awards 3.5GW in onshore wind tender

Germany has awarded 3.5GW of capacity in its latest onshore wind tender, the Federal Network Agency said.
The round, held on 1 August 2025, was heavily oversubscribed with 604 bids submitted for 5.7GW against a tendered volume of 3.4GW.
A total of 376 bids were successful, representing 3448MW, while 25 bids were excluded from the procedure.
Award values ranged from 6.39ct/kWh to 6.64ct/kWh, with a volume-weighted average of 6.57ct/kWh, down from 6.83ct/kWh in the previous round and well below the maximum of 7.35ct/kWh.
The largest awards were secured in North Rhine-Westphalia with 817MW across 105 projects, followed by Lower Saxony with 800MW across 73 projects, and Brandenburg with a record 609MW across 89 projects.
Federal Network Agency president Klaus Muller (pictured) said: “The bidding date was again heavily oversubscribed. The submitted bid volume of more than 5.7GW is the second-highest value in a tender so far. The award values fell again compared to the previous round.”
The next round of onshore wind tenders will take place on 1 November 2025, the agency added.
