CIP breaks ground on Fengmiao substation

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has started construction of the onshore substation for the 500MW Fengmiao offshore wind farm in Taichung.
The substation will act as the transmission hub of the project and incorporates sustainable design features, public art and leisure space to encourage community engagement, according to CIP.
Highlights include a grass slope landscape to integrate with the environment, the “Valley of Wind” art installation, open green areas for visitors, and an exhibition space promoting awareness of renewable energy.
CIP and partner TECO have also introduced a pre-stressed concrete pile welding method, described as the first of its kind in Taiwan. The approach improves lifting efficiency, reduces operational risks and enhances workflow.
CIP said the substation groundbreaking marks another milestone for Fengmiao, one of Taiwan’s first Round 3 offshore wind projects.
