The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Vice President / Director of Data Center Delivery to lead and manage data center construction operations across Japan. This is a leadership position that plays a pivotal role in building and scaling delivery functions across the region, ensuring timely, safe, and high-quality project execution. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth platform in the early stages, contribute to global delivery strategy, and lead critical buildouts in one of the most dynamic data center markets.

- Build and manage a local delivery organization, including the recruitment of key team members and third-party consultants.
- Drive contractor selection and contract negotiation (GCs, MEP, EPCM firms).
- Own and execute delivery processes: planning, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, vendor management, and risk mitigation.
- Act as a key contributor to the global construction standards, adapting processes to align with regional and cultural dynamics.
- Ensure safety and environmental best practices are embedded into all aspects of delivery (EHS leadership).
- Collaborate with internal departments (Design, Operations, Finance, Legal) to ensure alignment and success at every phase.
- Engage with regional stakeholders to identify and solve supply chain issues, optimize procurement, and ensure on-time project milestones.
- Report to senior global leadership on progress, KPIs, and performance trends.
- Maintain full financial oversight of local project budgets and operating costs.
- Help define the rhythm of business and communication cadences across teams and time zones.
Skills & Experience:
- Fluency in both Japanese and English is mandatory.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in data center or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Proven track record in building and leading high-performing construction teams (10+ direct/indirect reports).
- Strong familiarity with Japan’s construction ecosystem: contractors, permitting, utility interfacing, and regulatory requirements.
- Technical degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Understanding of prefabrication/modular approaches and ability to drive innovation in delivery models.
- Hands-on experience with feasibility, CAPEX planning, construction phasing, and contractor oversight.
- Deep knowledge of regional codes, safety compliance, and permitting frameworks.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with changing priorities and diverse teams.
- Strategic problem solver with attention to detail and high level of personal integrity.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (domestic and 2–3 international trips per year).

- Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Hybrid working environment (flexible office/home-based work).
- Flexible working hours.
