We are looking for an experienced Business Development Director to lead the expansion of Vietnam’s thriving commercial and industrial (C&I) solar market on behalf of a well-established developer in this sector. This role will focus on driving growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and securing deals with corporate clients, industrial parks, and commercial entities. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of Vietnam’s solar energy market, including regulatory policies, PPA structures, financing & power purchasing models, along with a strong network in the C&I sector.

Responsibilities:

The Business Development Director will be responsible for developing and executing a market strategy to capture C&I solar opportunities, including rooftop solar and off-site PPAs for factories, warehouses, and commercial buildings. This includes monitoring industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to refine business approaches. A key part of the role will involve building relationships with industrial clients, government agencies, and energy off-takers, as well as negotiating PPAs, lease agreements, and EPC contracts.

The role requires end-to-end deal execution, from prospecting and originating to financial close, while collaborating with technical, legal, and finance teams to ensure project feasibility and compliance. The candidate will be expected to meet annual development targets and contribute to revenue growth in the C&I solar portfolio. Additionally, they will represent the company at industry events, conferences, and government forums, while also mentoring and guiding the business development team.

Requirements for applicants:

The ideal candidate should have at least 8 years of experience in business development, sales, or project development within the solar/renewable energy sector, with a strong focus on C&I solar in Vietnam. A proven track record of closing solar PPAs or energy deals with corporate clients is essential. The candidate should possess a deep understanding of Vietnam’s solar policies, financial modeling (IRR, NPV, financing structures), and strong negotiation skills. Fluency in English and Vietnamese is highly desirable, and an MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
