Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Director – Power Sales Agreements to lead power sales transactions with Distribution Utilities (DUs), Retail Electricity Suppliers (RES), and competitive bidding processes. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in negotiating and closing power sales agreements, participating in power market bids, and ensuring the successful execution of contracts. This role requires strong commercial acumen, deep knowledge of power markets, and expertise in structuring and executing complex agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead power sales transactions with Distribution Utilities (DUs), Retail Electricity Suppliers (RES), and large industrial/commercial customers.
  • Manage and execute power sales agreements, ensuring compliance with market regulations and company objectives.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions to secure optimal commercial outcomes while managing risks effectively.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including utilities, regulators, market operators, and corporate off-takers.
  • Analyze market trends, pricing, and regulatory developments to identify sales opportunities and bidding strategies.
  • Lead bid participation efforts, including preparing proposals and responding to competitive power supply solicitations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (legal, finance, risk management, and operations) to ensure smooth contract execution and deal closure.
  • Support power supply portfolio management, including contract optimization and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant energy market regulations, including rules set by the ERC, DOE, and other governing bodies.
  • Manage and oversee trading and operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Law, or a related field (MBA or relevant postgraduate degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in power sales, energy trading, or commercial negotiations within the power industry.
  • Strong expertise in power contract structuring and negotiation, particularly with DUs, RES, and large end-users.
  • Proven track record in competitive bidding participation and successful deal closures.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of APAC power market regulations and the competitive retail electricity market.
  • Proven ability to manage energy trading portfolios and oversee operations in compliance with market regulations.
  • Ability to develop and execute commercial strategies to optimize power sales revenue and mitigate risks.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in renewable energy power sales agreements is a plus.
  • Familiarity with long-term and short-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
  • Background in financial modeling and contract risk assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of energy markets, including regulations set by governing bodies.
